About the Role

BPA is seeking a Director of Business Development to drive new client origination and revenue growth nationally while helping further develop the firm's business development function.

Reporting to senior management, the Director will be responsible for creating and advancing opportunities across BPA's target markets. The role requires someone who can establish credibility with senior decision-makers, understand their business needs, recognize where BPA can add value, and move opportunities forward with support from BPA's subject-matter experts.

This is a role for an experienced financial-services business developer with a demonstrated history of generating new business and relevant industry relationships. The Director does not need to be the technical expert across every BPA service, but does need the market knowledge and judgment to identify opportunities and bring the right expertise into the discussion.

What You’ll Do

  • Originate new business and deliver measurable new-client and revenue growth against objectives established with senior management.
  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers, referral sources, advisors, and other industry participants, developing opportunities through existing relationships, referrals, industry networks, conferences, and disciplined direct outreach.
  • Lead prospective client discussions, identify underlying needs, and work with BPA's subject-matter experts to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Own the business development process from initial opportunity through proposal, commercial discussions, and closing.
  • Maintain a disciplined pipeline, clear next steps, and accurate opportunity information and forecasts.
  • Represent BPA at industry conferences, client meetings, and other business development activities.
  • Work with senior management to strengthen BPA's business development strategy, market coverage, and sales processes as the firm grows.

What You Bring

  • A demonstrated record of personally originating and closing new business within financial services, professional services, or another relevant institutional market.
  • Established relationships within private credit, fund management, banking, asset-based lending, specialty finance, alternative investments, or related markets.
  • Strong knowledge of institutional financial services and the organizations and decision-makers BPA serves.
  • The ability to conduct effective discovery conversations, listen carefully, identify business needs, and translate those needs into potential solutions.
  • Strong executive presence, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Persistence, accountability, and discipline in managing opportunities that may require sustained outreach and longer sales cycles.
  • Sound commercial judgment and the ability to work effectively with senior management and technical subject-matter experts.
  • Approximately 15+ years of relevant experience is preferred, but demonstrated origination success, market relationships, and capabilities will carry greater weight than a specific number of years.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline preferred.
